Edward Tufte's new book, Beautiful Evidence, is now available on Amazon. As The Elements of Style is to writing The Visual Display of Quantitative Information is to visual design. I don't think that Tufte has ever quite reached that level again, but that's a testament to TVDoQI, not a damning of his other work, almost all of which has been worthwhile (The Cognitive Style of Power Point? Meh).
